Itineraty Details

Day 1: BUENOS AIRES

Arrive to Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires, cosmopolitan and elegant capital of Argentina, with a population of 12 million inhabitants, it is usually mentioned as the Paris of South America.

Transfer to the hotel and Buenos Aires sightseeing tour.
A different and original approach to discover the city’s most beautiful places, bars and avenues, to live its cultural life and to see its rich history come alive. A tour covering the outstanding points of interest: '9 de Julio´ Avenue, Colón Theatre (Opera House), San Telmo neighborhood, birthplace of the city, May Square, historical and political centre, La Boca district, famous for 'Caminito' street, May Avenue, Recoleta district, known for its Cemetery and Palermo, wide and beautiful park located in the heart of one of the most elegant areas in the city.
Overnight at the selected hotel.

Day 2: BUENOS AIRES

Day at leisure.

Optional suggested: Full day Gaucho Party tour in the country side or half day Tigre & Paraná delta.

In the evening, Dinner and Tango show:
Buenos Aires is the birthplace of Tango, born in the brothels of the city, just before the beginning of the 1880s. Tango is not only a dance but also an obsession. Erotic and passionate, haunting and melancholic, it involves not only the body but also the soul. Tango has captured the popular imagination for over one hundred years to become no less than an international cult.
A 3 course dinner with selected Argentine wines and an excellent beef while enjoying, an impressive musical show where the main character is Tango.
Overnight.

DAY 03: BUENOS AIRES - SALTA

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Salta. Arrival and collect rented car for five days. Continue to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 04: SALTA - CAFAYATE

In the morning, departure to Cafayate in an amazing drive along the Valley of Rio Las Conchas up to the "Valles Calchaquies". An ever-surprising panorama of changing landscapes unfolds, with lush greens and red coloring curious and fantastic rock formations. Cafayate holds some magnificent pieces of art; tapestry, pottery, wood carvings. The place is very famous for its local wines.
A few kilometers off of Route 40 near Cafayate, in a desert area plenty of Cardon cactus, you reach the interested native ruins of the ancient settlement of the Quilmes. There were approximately 5,000 people living here between 1000 and 1667AD. They fought off the Spanish for over 150 years until defeated and removed to Buenos Aires. Total distance traveled: 300 kms, totally paved in very good condition.
Overnight at Cafayate.

DAY 05: CAFAYATE – CACHI - SALTA

The Calchaqui Valleys is a must visit that goes beyond Salta, is a must see in Argentina.
You will drive from Cafayate through the mythical route 40. In the way villages such as San Carlos, Molinos, Angastaco, Seclantasand Cachi form a chain that generally encloses between its chapels and archaeological remains, much of pre-Columbian history, Spanish conquest and Argentine independence.
Everything else combined with a dream geography and friendly people. Then, always through fascinating rock formations, you arriving to the old village or Cachi. Suggested lunch at Cachi.

Partial distance traveled: Around 180 km. Most of the road is not paved, but it’s in good condition. Estimated time 4hs.
In due course, you will drive through the famous "Tin Tin Line", perfectly straight line that crosses the National Park "Los Cardones", which was built by the natives and used to cross the Desert of the cacti for centuries.
You reach the 3,300 meters above sea level, in Piedra del Molino, where you can see a unique panoramic view. From there, one descends by the spectacular "Cuesta del Obispo", to the valley of Lerma, where the city of Salta is located. A real paradise, without a doubt, is one of the most beautiful mountain trails in all of Argentina. Partial distance traveled: About 200 km. most paved in good condition. Estimated time 3 hs.

DAY 06: SALTA - PURMAMARCA

Driving along the Humahuaca Ravine is another must see if you are in Salta. You will see an inspiring landscape, some pre-Hispanic sites, such as Pucará de Tilcara, small ancient villages with beautiful chapels rich in Hispanic American art treasures. In the way you can visit highlights such us Purmamarca, Maimará, Tilcara, that keep their traditions alive bringing together ancient history and customs. Always the change of colors in the mountains is just amazing. Finally when you reach the small city of Humahuaca, a nice and quiet traditional place, you can back to Purmamarca.

Total distance traveled: 500 km. It can be easily done since all roads are paved in excellent condition.
Overnight in Purmamarca.

DAY 07: PURMAMARCA - SALINAS GRANDE - SUSQUES - SALTA

This day will probably lead to one of the best scenic trails in the world. You will marvel at the sinuous path of curves and forks going up to Abra de Potrerillos at a height over the 4,100 meters.
You will drive through the Cuesta de Lipan gorge, an incredible feat of engineering to build it, which is so vast and amazing.
Then you will reach the Puna or Altiplano, an high altitude plateau within the Andes mountain range.
In this area, there are not many people living, however you can see the picturesque small town of Susques, probably the highest city in Argentina, with a population of 2000 inhabitants. We recommend you visit his beautiful church.
Later, we begin the return to Quebrada de Humahuaca on the Cuesta de Lipan looking down and then back to Salta through a scenic road "La Cornisa".

Total distance traveled: 450 km. All roads are paved in excellent condition.
Overnight in Salta.

DAY 08: SALTA-BUENOS AIRES

Return rental car in the airport, and take the flight to Buenos Aires.
Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Rest of the day at leisure.
Overnight.

Day 09 BUENOS AIRES

Transfer to the international airport for your flight back home or continue with extensions.

Buenos Aires: Full day Gaucho Party

Tour in the country side. Arrive to an “Estancia” (Ranch) for a “Gaucho” (cowboy) experience. Barbecue, wine, popular singing and dancing show, will give visitors an idea about the Gaucho daily life, horse races, etc.


Buenos Aires: Full day in Uruguay. Colonia del Sacramento

This is an amazing one-day tour to “Colonia”, a real Spanish and Portuguese colonial style city that has been declared World Heritage site at a standstill in the XVIII century, just at the other side of the Rio de la Plata river, in the República Oriental del Uruguay.
You will sail a very comfortable speed ferry boat along the widest river on Earth and will walking along a small town used in old times to prevent enemies from attacking Buenos Aires. A walking city tour and a typical lunch are included (without beverages).


Buenos Aires: Half day Tigre & Paraná delta.

It may be hard to believe that a few minutes away from the chaos of the city, Nature and silence seem to have defeated the piles of concrete and the frenzy of urban life. This visit to Tigre, the gateway to the astonishing Paraná River Delta, will allow us toboard a catamaran boat to discover thousands of islands and islets crisscrossed by rivers and brooks.


Salta: Half Day city tour

Tour starts at 9 de Julio Square, follow by important buildings as the City Hall, the Cathedral, the San Francisco and Vicuña Churches, as most prominent colonial examples. Next, we access San Bernardo Hillby cable car for some spectacular city views. Finally we’ll visit San Lorenzo, the upper class weekend neighborhood of wealthy Salteños. Before going back to the hotel, we stop by at the Handcraft artisan market plenty of local colors, folklore and wonderful souvenirs.
