Itineraty Details

Day 1: BUENOS AIRES – PUERTO MADRYN

Arrival at Trelew airport.
From the airport (*), excursion to Punta Tombo Magellan Penguin Reserve (Only available from September to April) the largest sanctuary in the Continent.
Punta Tombo is one of the most famous and visited sites in Argentina. Thousands of tourists gather here to be amazed at one of the most fascinating shows performed by nature: the Magellan penguin continental colony, where about two million Magellan penguins gather there from September to April in order to nest, mate, incubate their eggs and feed their offspring, presenting a show unique on the continent.
Afterward transfer to the hotel in Puerto Madryn city, base of this spectacular region for wildlife.
Overnight at the selected hotel.

(*) This tour will combine with your transfer in, so you should arrive al Trelew airport before 9 AM.

Day 2: PUERTO MADRYN

Full Day Excursion to Peninsula Valdes, you will see different fauna depending on the month of the visit, see details below.
We start early in the morning towards Peninsula Valdes Protected Natural Area. After one hour drive we will arrive at Puerto Piramides, where we will go on a regular boat trip (optional) to see whales from June to December and sea lions and cormorants from January to March. After this we head to Faro Punta Delgada Hotel & Restaurante (open from September to early March) to arrive near lunch time. There we will also have the opportunity to go down the beach and walk close to the sea elephants. After that, we continue to Punta Cantor along the eastern coastline of the peninsula and we get to Caleta Valdés (Valdés Inlet). We are shown geological formations there and then we go back to the Ameghino Isthmus, with its interesting interpretation centre. On the way we have good chances of coming across wild land fauna such as guanacos, rheas, foxes, maras (Patagonian hare), armadillos, skunks, etc. Finally, we return to the city of Puerto Madryn at sunset.

Optional: Whales watching sailing in Puerto Piramides (not included).
Overnight.

Day 3: PUERTO MADRYN

Day at leisure for optional activities available according to the month of the visit: dolphins watching, Whales watching from the Doradillo coast, 4x4 ride or kayaking among sea lions.

Day 4: PUERTO MADRYN - BUENOS AIRES

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or continue with extensions.

Optional Tours

Whales watching at “Puerto Piramides”(June to December)

Boat trip to see the Right Whales in order to see the southern right whale, these wonderful and imposing animals come close to the peninsula to bear their calves. This is a unique experience. These colossal creatures may approach men to play with them, show off their pirouettes or just out of curiosity.

Submarine watching at Yellow submarine

This unique Puerto Madryn Whale Watching Tour takes place on a semi-submersible boat that provides you with the opportunity to watch the whales underwater. On board the Yellow Submarine, passengers can move freely and watch the whales surface from the upper deck, as in normal in most whale watching trips, and from the submarine cabin, where you can experience the whales as if you were diving with them. At this level underwater, there are 40 windows, each with its own seat, for your viewing pleasure.

Whale watching from the coast (June to September)

El Doradillo Area is visited every season by a group of whales and their calves. They get very close to the beach due to the stillness of its waters and the unusual depth of the coast, thus allowing the visitor to do the whale- watching from the coast, with great chances of finding animals at 15 / 20 meters. Estimated Duration: 2 hours.

Cerro Avanzado & Punta Loma 4wd Adventure (all year round)

A 4wd vehicle will pick you up at you hotel to set out the road towards Cerro Avanzado. During the journey you will cross country paths, sand dunes and cliffs. On the road you will visit a Sea Lion Colony at Punta Loma, interpreting cliffs and marine fossils that constitute an invaluable paleontology treasure.

Chubut River Valley (all year round)

The excursion starts early in the morning heading to Rawson, the province capital city, and then to Rawson Port in order to do the Comersoni Dolphin watching.
After the watching, once at Trelew you can visit the Egidio Feruglio Paleontology Museum, one of the most important in Latin America specialized in paleontology. Here you can examine all the geological eras, from the first human being on Earth to the Bing Bang. There are 30 dinosaurs and about 2000 fossilized pieces on display in the Mesozoic era room, the main room at the museum. Then, the journey continues to Gaiman, a village situated 15km west on the Chubut River northern bank.
This small town is a very attractive place where the Welsh traditions can still be found at its best. Its buildings (very well preserved since the times settlers disembarked and settled down in the valley), its typical Welsh tea and cake, all in the beautiful setting featured by the valley. After this visit, the itinerary foresees a visit to Dolavon village, this time along the road that goes around the farmland, where numerous farms devoted to agro-tourism, offer varied and fine craftsmanship. Visit the Old Flour Mill.
